German Confe\u00adrence on Bioin\u00adfor\u00admatics<\/h1>\n

The German Confe\u00adrence on Bioin\u00adfor\u00admatics (GCB) is an annual inter\u00adna\u00adtional, anglo\u00adphone annual confe\u00adrence covering all areas of bioin\u00adfor\u00admatics. The GCB is awarded by FaBI taking place at changing locations in Germany. FaBI awards the GCB to the applying cities. The tradition of the GCB goes back to a confe\u00adrence called \u201cBiotech\u00adno\u00adlogie & Infor\u00admation\u201d \u2013 biotech\u00adnology and infor\u00admatics \u2013 in 1985 in Braun\u00adschweig organized by Dietmar Schomburg. In 1986\u20131989, the confe\u00adrence took place at the Gesell\u00adschaft f\u00fcr Biotech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgische Forschung (the present Helmholtz Center for Infection Research) in Braun\u00adschweig and was called \u201cCompu\u00adter\u00adan\u00adwen\u00addungen in den Biowis\u00adsen\u00adschaften\u201d \u2013 Computer appli\u00adca\u00adtions on the biosci\u00adences. Until 1992 the confe\u00adrence was called \u201cComputer Appli\u00adca\u00adtions in the Biosci\u00adences\u201d and held in English. In 1993, the confe\u00adrence was for the first time organized in coope\u00adration with the GI (German Infor\u00admatics Society) and received its current name \u201cGerman Confe\u00adrence on Bioin\u00adfor\u00admatics (GCB)\u201d. Looking back at such a long tradition, the GCB is the oldest confe\u00adrence on bioinformatics\/computational biology worldwide that takes place on a regular basis.<\/p>\n
